I have been working on my family's genealogy for the last twenty years off and on. I would make a little progress, get stuck and then leave it alone for a while. Repeating this cycle many times. In 2023 I decided to finish once and for all. I began looking into hiring a professional genealogist to help me. Wow! So expensive, and as someone who was not starting from the beginning, more than I was willing to spend. I didn't need someone to show me how to create a tree or begin documenting my immediate family’s information. 

I needed someone to show me how to work through road blocks and what appeared to be dead ends. I was fortunate to find Colleen. The idea of a genealogy coach was intriguing. Someone I could talk things through with, who could help point me in the right direction and support me in ways I had not yet thought of.

From the first moment I spoke to Colleen I knew I had made the right decision. She was warm and friendly. Eager to hear my story and enthusiastic to help. Did she help me? YES!!!! Within a few meetings I had made more progress than I had in several years! She was so helpful, resourceful, encouraging, and the best part a joy to work with! Every meeting was fun! We talked, laughed, and commiserated on the frustrating parts of this journey.  All while being productive!

I started my family history journey in February 2023 with the intent of finding out about my Grandmother's birth family since she was adopted. I had no idea what I was doing, so I asked a friend in the archival world for a suggestion on how to proceed. She send me a webpage that had lists of genealogists for hire. On the top of the list, I saw Colleen's bio and knew she was the one I wanted to work with. What a fun and wild ride it has been and I wouldn't have wanted to do this without Colleen! She helps YOU to do the work by giving you suggestions and tools on how to find your ancestors during zoom meetings. This is more valuable than hiring someone to do the work for you as you get to see all the records and photos. I quickly discovered that 1 hour sessions were not long enough and she adjusted her availability to accommodate 60, 90 and 120 minute appointments! I now see her at least once a week and it never feels like enough! You will get a research summary after your meeting so you have a record of what you accomplished and what you need to do. Colleen has taught me so much and she is worth every penny! She has a smile and cheers you on when you break through tough barriers! We discovered my grandmother's birth family and so much more, including civil and revolutionary war vets, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and crazy criminals. I highly recommend Colleen if you want to discover your family history through a rewarding process!

I would highly recommend working with Colleen. She is professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about researching genealogy and family history. My mother was adopted in 1928. She never knew her birth parents or heritage. Through coaching sessions and her webinars, Colleen helped me to find my mother's biological parents. I had a great grandfather's missionary journal that had been packed away for years and I wanted to share it with the rest of my extended family.  As I set out to transcribe it, I found it almost impossible to decipher.  The letters were stylized for the 1800s, many words were misspelled, and many unfamiliar abbreviations were used.  I turned to Colleen for help.  Her transcribing service was quick and accurate.  She helped to make sense of the journal entries and restored a family history treasure.
